Are You Dealing With Shoulder Pain?

Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy

This is a common condition where the tendons and muscles in the shoulder’s rotator cuff become strained from overuse or injury, causing pain and weakness. Over time, the tendon can even start to degenerate, leading to pain and limited movement. The rotator cuff consists of 4 muscles (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis and teres minor). These muscles are endurance muscles and are essential to one’s everyday functioning.

Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder is a significant loss of shoulder movement which causes pain and stiffness, making it difficult to move your shoulder the way you’d like. It can happen for no clear reason, but is more common in people with diabetes, thyroid issues, or other health conditions.

Shoulder Bursitis

A bursa is a small, fluid-filled sac that helps reduce friction in your joints. When the bursa in the shoulder becomes inflamed, it can lead to bursitis, causing pain and limiting movement.

Rotator Cuff Tears

Rotator cuff tears involve damage to one or more of the four tendons in your shoulder. Tears can be partial or complete, ranging in size from small (under 1 cm) to large (over 5 cm). The rotator cuff consists of 4 muscles (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis and teres minor). These muscles are endurance muscles and are essential to one’s everyday functioning.

Shoulder Replacement

Also called Total Shoulder Arthroplasty (TSA), shoulder replacement surgery involves replacing aspects of the shoulder joint with metal and plastic components. This procedure is usually done for severe arthritis or a serious shoulder fracture and aims to relieve pain and restore movement.
