Rotator Cuff Tears

Physiotherapy for Rotator Cuff Tears

Rotator cuff tears involve damage to one or more of the four tendons in your shoulder. Tears can be partial or complete, ranging in size from small (under 1 cm) to large (over 5 cm). The rotator cuff consists of 4 muscles (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis and teres minor). These muscles are endurance muscles and are essential to one’s everyday functioning.

How Physiotherapy Can Help
For the majority of tears, regardless of size, physiotherapy can often relieve pain and promote healing without surgery. If surgery is needed, we offer a tailored recovery plan to restore mobility, strength, and shoulder function through targeted exercises and careful monitoring. We at Barraco Physiotherapy & Wellness provide extensive education on what it means to have a tear and promote safe exercises and encourage movement.
