Are You Dealing With Knee Pain?

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

Commonly known as “runner’s knee,” patellofemoral pain syndrome involves pain around the kneecap, often due to overuse, muscle imbalances, or improper movement patterns.

Meniscus Tear

A meniscus tear is an injury to the weight-bearing cushion between the knee bones, often due to sudden twisting or heavy lifting. It may cause pain, swelling, and a “locking” sensation in the knee.

ACL Injury

An ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury is a common sports-related injury that can occur with sudden stops or changes in direction. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and knee instability.

MCL Injury

An MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury affects the ligament on the inside of the knee, often resulting from a blow to the outer knee. Pain and instability on the inner side of the knee are common symptoms.

Patellar Tendinopathy

Also known as “jumper’s knee,” patellar tendinopathy involves pain and tenderness in the tendon connecting the kneecap to the shinbone, often from repetitive jumping or running.

Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition affecting the knee joint, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion. It’s often exacerbated by weight-bearing activities.

Knee Bursitis (Baker’s Cyst)

Bursitis is inflammation of the bursa, a fluid-filled sac that reduces friction in the knee. It often causes pain and swelling at the back (Baker’s Cyst) or front (Patellar Bursa) of the knee.

Total Knee Replacement

Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), or total knee replacement, involves surgically replacing damaged
knee cartilage and bone with prosthetic components. It’s often recommended for those with severe arthritis or knee damage to alleviate pain and restore function.
